Community Project in Prison

The students of the School of Global Studies (SGS) at Thammasat University who are enrolled in TU100 – Civic Engagement recently traveled to Thanyaburi District Prison (เรือนจำอำเภอธัญบุรี) as part of the community visit program which is an integral component of the curriculum. The objectives of the course, which is taught by SGS faculty member Dr. Pannin Sumanasrethakul, include the promotion of individual self-development, the realization of the value of global citizenship, and an understanding of the importance of addressing societal issues through real-life experience. Quoting one of the students who participated in the visit: “This is an eye-opening experience for me to learn not only about life in prison but to understand the deeper issues prevalent in our society.”
