Public Value Co-Creation Without State

The School of Global Studies (SGS) at Thammasat University recently hosted Dr. Herlin Chien, Director of the Center of Southeast Asian Languages and Associate Professor at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Taiwan, who conducted a joint research project in Nan province which was coordinated by the School of Global Studies. The Dean of the School of Global Studies, Dr. Nuntavarn Vichit-Vadakan and faculty member Dr. Istvan Rado also participated in a series of exciting student presentations which marked the final activity of this year's Community Based Learning Initiative course which was conducted entirely in Nan province. While there Dr. Herlin and Dr.  Istvan also took the opportunity to review a variety of inspirational social innovative projects initiated by ethnic Karen residents in Sangkhlaburi. These included, among others, an innovative waste management social enterprise, youth training in traditional Karen handicraft skills, as well as a cooperative involved dry food production. Prior to leaving Thammasat, Dr. Herlin presented her project and preliminary research findings in a special knowledge management seminar for students, faculty and staff.
