Internship experience at Asian Multi Sports & Entertainment Co., Ltd

At the end of junior year, an internship during semester break was required for all students. Throughout the year I had been searching for internships opportunities that would suit me and my working style. I prefer working in an environment that allows me to do things actively not just sitting all day working on a computer. As the semester break was just around the corner, I decided to approach the organization called “Asian Multi Sports & Entertainment Co., Ltd”

Asian Multi Sports & Entertainment Co., Ltd is the organizer of jet ski world series which is held in multiple countries around the world. This organization suits me perfectly since the team travels to races in different countries working with both Thai and international staff. I couldn’t resist in being a part. Luckily, I got in. However, the most interesting part of this opportunity was I got to go to France with the team as an event coordinator. It was such an amazing experience to have worked with some very talented individuals and meeting some incredible people. The fun part was problem solving and communication between our team and the local French team. There were many communication issues like misunderstanding and lack of coordination. As an event coordinator, I was responsible for tackling issues and solving them. So much experience gained. Also improvisation. There were quite a few situations where we needed to improvise to come through. Again, what a joyful it was.

In terms of skills that I used specifically from GSSE courses, leadership, strategic management, and project management just to name a few have prepared me well for real world experiences. Being aware of what to do and what can be done in all situations helps dictate how things go. Especially working in an international environment where different in cultures and languages come into play. Adapting, communicating, learning, performing well will make a positive impact in the workplace and deliver. Jet ski highlights the impact of environment in terms of CO2. Fuels used in the jet ski obviously creates the emissions as the engine burns out the fuel. Not only jet ski, but also logistics of the teams and equipment. As the competition was held in 4 different countries there were many trips during the races creating CO2. One interesting alternative I would personally suggest is the use of synthetic fuels. Community building and cultural exchange are definitely one of the highlights as we worked in a very small community in France involving some local. Exchange in cultures occurred automatically. Entrepreneurial aspect of the event was actually a key part of the on-shore event. There were many local owned businesses involved as we tried to make the event more diverse. For example, Thai street vendors owned by Thai who live in France, local French food vendors, Thai massage. There were many opportunities for business owners to get involved in the event.

This internship will definitely influence my future career. The reason is it is an event that I can get my hands on things. Working outside the office. However, social change aspect does not affect my decision as much. This was an unforgettable experience working abroad with the amazing team. So many things I learned from this journey. Facing challenges and learning how to overcome them and more importantly, how to prevent them from happening again. I was and still am grateful for the opportunity given.
