Professor Dr. Nuntavarn is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of public health. She was the founding Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and the School of Global Studies at Thammasat University in Thailand, where she served for over 13 years. Her research has primarily focused on the critical areas of air pollution and health, as well as tobacco control. Through her extensive research endeavors, she has published numerous influential publications and played a pivotal role in shaping national policies and interventions.

Professor Dr. Nuntavarn’s contributions extend beyond academia. She served as the lead negotiator for Thailand at the Conference of the Parties (COP) for the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) for several years. Additionally, she chaired significant committees at the Conference of the Parties, leading to the successful adoption of guidelines and the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.

Her work and dedication have earned her prestigious accolades. In 2011, she was honored with the WHO World No Tobacco Day Award for the Southeast Asia Region. In 2012, the University of California at Los Angeles recognized her achievements by inducting her into the Alumni Hall of Fame. Professor Dr. Nuntavarn’s contributions to public health and tobacco control have made a lasting impact.
