ADMISSION SCHEDULE & REQUIREMENTS

MA Program in Social Innovation and Sustainability (International Program)

Qualification

  1. Hold a Bachelor's degree in any field.
  2. GPA at least 2.75
  3. Applicants must qualify as appeared in Thammasat University Regulations on Graduate Studies, 2018.
  4. Meet an English efficiency test requirement
  5. Internship and education support experiences would be appreciated.  
  6. Participate in an interview or written exam

Accepted Tests:

  • TU–GET paper-based (550 and above)
  • TU-GET computer-based (79 and above)
  • TOEFL IBT (79 and above)
  • IELTS (6.5 and above)

Note:

  • The English Proficiency Test Score Report must not exceed 2 years from the exam date to the date of the interview.
  • We do not accept the TOEFL Essentials test and TOEFL ITP.
  • Exemption: Applicants who are citizens of an English-speaking country (e.g., Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA) are exempted. Proof of citizenship must be submitted.
  • Applicants who have earned a degree from a university where English is the primary medium of instruction may submit a certificate of English Medium Instruction, signed by the University Registrar. However, the SGS has the right to accept or reject such certificates based on the applicant’s qualifications and the use of the English language observed during the admission. The certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of graduation to the date of application.

A Statement of Interest of no more than 750 words is required for us to assess your application. You will be required to answer the first two questions and then be able to pick your third question to answer.

Questions (Required):

  1. Please explain why you are applying for the MA in Social Innovation and Sustainability Program and what interested you most (approx. 250 words)
  2. Explain how the MA in Social Innovation and Sustainability Program relates to your future academic studies and career aspirations (approx. 250 words)

And please answer ONE of the following two questions to complete your Statement of Interest:

  1. The university invites distinguished guest speakers representing a wide range of experiences and accomplishments. What person, past or present, would you invite to speak? What question would you like to ask him or her? (approx. 250 words)
  2. The lessons we take from the difficulties or obstacles we encounter can be vital to later success. Tell us about a challenge, setback or failure that you have experienced. How did it affect you and what did you learn from the experience? (approx. 250 words)

Scholarship Opportunities

1. Thammasat International Student Recruitment Scholarship (TISR): Applicants apply directly to the TISR Program and submit their applications within the designated rounds. The Office of International Affairs (OIA) will manage the applications and announcement process, while the school will conduct the interviews. TISR provides an academic scholarship with a monthly stipend. For more details, please visit Thammasat OIA’s website and Facebook.

2. SGS Thammasat Academics Scholarship:
Besides the TISR Scholarship, the school offers various types of scholarships such as a fully funded scholarship and partial scholarships,. These scholarships are considered based on students’ qualifications. Unlike the TISR Scholarship, SGS scholarships do not include a stipend. Applicants interested in the scholarship can indicate their interest in the application form.

Scholarship applicants must submit a 1500-word research proposal that explains a research question related to social innovation and sustainability (it may consider any social or environmental issue) and explain your rationale for asking the question. Additionally, describe the research methods you would use for answering the question and the potential impact of the research.
Give a 5-minute oral presentation of your research accompanied by slides. The presentation will either take place at the time of your interview or at a separate designated time.

Applicants will be evaluated based on their past experience, academic ability, and skills in research, writing and analytical thinking.
