Admission

Qualification

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  2. GPA at least 2.75
  3. Applicants must qualify as appearing in the Thammasat University Regulations on Graduate Studies, 2018.
  4. Meet an English efficiency test requirement
  5. Internship and education support experiences would be appreciated.

No. Applicants from all academic backgrounds are welcome.

Yes, you may need an official undergraduate graduation diploma & transcript to apply and enroll as a Thammasat university student. However, if the applicant is pursuing a 4th-year bachelor’s degree, applicants may submit a current transcript as evidence of their application first. But it would be best if you were sure to be able to graduate in time before the semester starts.

Below is the list of accepted tests:

  1. TU–GET paper-based (550 and above)
  2. TU-GET computer-based (79 and above)
  3. TOEFL Internet-based (79 and above)
  4. IELTS (6.5 and above)

Notes:
– The English Proficiency Test Score Report must not exceed 2 years from the exam date to the date of the interview.
– We do not accept the TOEFL Essentials test and TOEFL ITP.
– Exemption:
     – Applicants who are citizens of an English-speaking country (e.g., Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA) are exempted. Proof of citizenship must be submitted.
     – Applicants who have earned a degree from a university where English is the primary medium of instruction may submit a certificate of English Medium Instruction, signed by the University Registrar. However, the SGS has the right to accept or reject such certificates based on the applicant’s qualifications and the use of the English language observed during the admission. The certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of graduation to the date of application.

If you have not yet taken a test, you may still apply for the program by selecting the option “take later” in the application form. However, your application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The scholarship application is integrated into the admission process. You may indicate your interest in a scholarship on the application form. During the interview session, the admissions committee will consider your academic excellence, potential contributions to the program, and financial need.

The administrative team will send you an email confirming your eligibility and providing Zoom details for the interview. Following the interview session, the Admissions Committee typically takes approximately 1 week to finalize both admission and scholarship decisions. Successful candidates will be notified by email once the results are confirmed.

Program Info

The program combines social innovation, sustainability, management, and research skills within an international and interdisciplinary learning environment. Students learn through academic inquiry, project-based learning, and engagement with real-world challenges.

The MA in Social Innovation and Sustainability starts in August. The course is intended to be finished within 1.5 years. The course will be offered in three semesters.
Year 1 Semester 1: August – December (12 credits)
Year 1 Semester 2: January – May (12 credits)
Year 2 Semester 1: August – December (12 credits)
The student may take a maximum of 4 academic years (8 semesters) to study.

The Master of Arts in Social Innovation and Sustainability requires 36 credits to earn a degree in a minimum of 1.5 years of study.

Classes will be offered at Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus, Bangkok, Thailand. [Location]

Students are required to attend classes in person.

All courses are conducted in English.

Yes, you can take courses and work at the same time. Classes will be delivered on weekends (full days on Saturdays and Sundays).

The Thesis Track is an intensive research pathway designed to develop students’ ability to formulate, investigate, and critically analyze real-world issues. Students are required to publish their research, or part of it, in an international academic journal. This track is highly recommended for students who plan to pursue a PhD in the future.

In contrast, the Independent Study (IS) Track focuses on the development of a project report with a lighter research intensity than the Thesis Track, while still encouraging students to apply knowledge and research skills in practice.

There are numerous opportunities available to you after graduating from the MA program; our graduates pursue various paths following graduation from the MA program. Whether using what they’ve learned in the program for improving their present job or following a new career path in a related industry, they’ve succeeded. For example, Innovation Lab, Community Development, Impact Investment & Social Innovation, Social Impact Assessment, Social Entrepreneur, Start-Up, Business Coach, and Communication for Behavior Change Consultant are a few examples.

International students will need to apply for a visa to enter the Kingdom of Thailand under the Non-immigrant category “ED”. You must obtain a visa before departing your homeland to come to Thailand. Please use the letter of acceptance as one of the documents to apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate near your area.

Thammasat University Tha Prachan Dormitory is located on Borommaratchachonnani Road, Taling Chan, Bangkok, and is available for both Thammasat students and staff. There is a university shuttle bus running between Tha Prachan Campus and the dormitory. [Link]

There are also many apartments available in proximity to Tha Prachan Campus. One of the closest areas is Pinklao, the area just across from the bridge. You can also find apartments around Bang Phlat and Charansanitwong.

As a Thammasat student, you will have access to a wide range of university facilities and services, including libraries and academic resources, fitness centers, transportation services, and healthcare support.
