As part of the second-year curriculum, students in Cohort 10 of the Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship (GSSE) program at Thammasat University are embarking on their annual Field Immersion Course (GS 210). This experiential learning opportunity places students in rural and urban communities, enabling them to explore real-world development issues up close.
This year, the rural sector immersion will take place across four subdistricts in Sankhaburi district, Chainat province: Bang Khood, Po Ng-am, Praek Sriracha, and Tiang Tae. For the urban sector, students will engage with the Pathum Thani Model community in Khlong Luang, encompassing 179 households.
Throughout their immersion, students will investigate key aspects of community dynamics, including:
- Livelihoods, social structures, and power relations
- Local governance and indigenous knowledge
- Community challenges and sustainability strategies
- Participatory research and respectful data collection
The goal is not just academic—it’s about fostering humility, ethical awareness, empathy, and a deep commitment to social justice. These field experiences help shape GSSE students into thoughtful, globally-minded leaders capable of driving meaningful change.
