On June 26th, GSSE students from Cohort 8 had delivered the final presentations for CBLI1, at Bang Pakong Power Plant’s office, after their stay in the Thakam community, Chachoengsao Province with a host family for three weeks. Students reflected on their immersive experiences in the local community and presented their learnings from the application of ‘Appreciative Inquiry’ model to the community members and course lecturers.

The CBLI1 (Community-based Learning Initiative 1) is a course in which students get to explore and immerse into local community for three weeks to learn about local context and livelihood beyond the urban environments. The experiences gained from this course can help students connect to a wider understanding of globalization and community development—how they interrelate and affect people’s lives, relationships, and well-being in both the local and global settings.
This year Cohort 8 students spent 21 days living and working with community members in several local communities in Khon Kaen and Chachoengsao.
