
The School of Global Studies at Thammasat University had the honor of attending the annual “Pridi Banomyong Day” ceremony on May 11. This event is an important occasion for the university community to pay tribute to the late Pridi Banomyong, who led the revolt that ended absolute monarchy in 1932 and founded Thammasat University.
The ceremony was attended by rectors, vice-rectors, deans, faculty representatives, and faculty and department members from both within and outside the university. Each department and faculty presented elaborately decorated pedestal trays containing stationary donations to commemorate Pridi Banomyong’s legacy.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence in honor of Pridi Banomyong. This was followed by a speech by the rector, who spoke about Pridi Banomyong’s contributions to Thailand and Thammasat University. The rector also emphasized continuing Pridi Banomyong’s legacy of democracy and social justice.
After the rector’s speech, there was a performance by the Thammasat University marching band. The band played various patriotic songs, which were well-received by the audience.
The ceremony concluded with a presentation of the stationary donations. Each department and faculty presented their tray to the rector, who thanked them for their contributions.
The “Pridi Banomyong Day” ceremony is an important event for the Thammasat University community. It is a time to remember and honor the late Pridi Banomyong, a great leader and a true patriot. The ceremony also serves as a reminder of the importance of democracy and social justice, two of Pridi Banomyong’s most important causes.
