Prof. Bharat Dahiya proves excellence, delivers top results in the AD Scientific Index Rankings for 2023.

An award-winning urbanist, Prof. Dahiya is currently the Research Center for Sustainable Development and Innovation Director at the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University.  He has over two and a half decades of experience as an academician and practitioner, working with the World Bank, UN-HABITAT, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations University, and Metropolis, and engaging with multiple agencies and stakeholders around the world.

Recognized as “one of the world’s leading experts on sustainable urbanization”, Prof. Dahiya has been combining academic research, policy analysis, and development practice to examine and tackle current social, economic, environmental, and governmental issues in the global urban context and at multiple geographical scales.   He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Governance, Planning, and the Environment from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

In January 2021, the School of Public Leadership, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, appointed him as an Extraordinary Professor. He is the Series Editor for the Scopus-indexed Springer book series, Advances in 21st Century Human Settlements, which has published over 40 books.

 The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) analyzes academic studies from various countries, universities/institutions, and scientists by using numerous criteria to present results to be used for evaluating productivity and efficiency by individuals and institutions.
