The School of Global Studies, in collaboration with ThaiBev, brought a group of students in the BA program in Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship (GSSE), Thammasat University, to Baan Longmut, Songkla Province. Over 3 days, August 27-29, 12 GSSE students visited the community, one known for its unique, hand-woven, naturally dyed textiles. The students spent time understanding the textile process and products, and worked alongside the community and local stakeholders to deliver useful marketing recommendations and media assets to promote Baan Longmut community. Unique perspectives in community advocacy were drawn through meetings with ThaiBev, the Songkla Community College, Pracharath Rak Samakkee, and the Songkla Chapter of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. In this project, students were coached by our SGS faculty members, Ajarn Mike Hornblow and Ajarn Neil Gains, as well as industry guests Kasama Yamtree and Pisut Srimhok. The project is also a collaboration with the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts (FFAA), Thammasat University, and GSSE will continue to develop partnerships as the FFAA Textiles Department prepares for a Showcase event at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on Septermber 27, the Creative Young Designer Project Season 2.
Thank you ThaiBev and all our partners for allowing GSSE students to be a part of this wonderful project!
