Since the advent of the idea of sustainable development in 1987 in the “Report of the World  Commission on Environment and Development: Our Common Future”, there has been an emphasis  on the various dimensions of development. Social, environmental, and economic for the major  dimensions of development. Economic development has received global attention since the dawn of  modern Industrial Age in the 18th Century. However, its two counterparts––social and environment,  have often lagged. At least since 1992, when the Earth Summit––or the United Nations Conference on  Environment and Development, was held in Rio de Janeiro, the emphasis on integrating the social,  environmental, and economic has been growing. Following the Millennium Development Goals (2001- 2015), the wide spectrum of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda for  Sustainable Development (2016-2030), underlines the importance of conducting cutting-edge  research on sustainable development and innovation.
