GSSE students from Cohort 6 have participated in a four-week design sprint at The Gigatonne Challenge event held by the Complexity University in London. 👏
The team of six students, namely Ing, Mild, Fah, Moji, Hieu, and Aun spent their time during March and April to receive intensive coaching and exercised their creativity to develop feasible plans to tackle climate crisis. The GSSE team went on to leverage textile waste management and came up with a model where people are welcome to send their used clothes to them and the team will send them to their partner NGO (The Luea Khor organization) to redistribute the clothes to its beneficiaries, and the people in need.
Our students robustly raised awareness about this issue and received 75.5 kilograms of donated clothes within just a short period of time. At the end, they successfully presented this solution, its implementation and the practical results to the panel of the event’s final pitch and received great feedback. The team’s intervention was estimated to have helped prevent 1.5 tonnes of carbondioxide footprint, adding satisfactorily to the one-billion-tonnes goal aimed for by The Gigatonne Challenge through the driven global collective effort.
